Artist Bio:

Joanne Eng is a painter based in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, whose work explores the space between abstraction and representation through acrylic and mixed media. Her process reflects an emotional ambiguity toward domestic and everyday spaces, using intuitive mark-making, vibrant color, and collage to abstract her everyday, familial environments. Often beginning with themes such as material consumption and home life, she transforms these scenes into dynamic, layered compositions, highlighting the emotional weight of material and memory. Eng earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa in 2025 and continues to use collage and paint to explore the intimate surroundings that have shaped her.
